PURPOSE:To realize a more effective fuel cut, by setting the value of a fuel cut reference intake quantity such that the lower is an engine temperature the smaller said value decreases and stopping the supply of fuel to an engine when a detection intake quantity is smaller than said reference intake quantity in the deceleration time. CONSTITUTION:An engine, in which supply of fuel is stopped to the engine when it is decelerated, is equipped with an intake quantity detecting means A, detecting an intake quantity in the deceleration time, and an engine temperature detecting means B detecting a temperature of the engine. While the engine is equipped with a reference intake quantity setting means C inputting an output signal of the engine temperature detecting means B and setting the value of a fuel cut reference intake quantity such that the lower is the engine temperature the smaller said value decreases. And the engine, outputting a fuel cut signal from a fuel supply control means D when a detected intake quantity is smaller than the value of the fuel cut reference intake quantity, stops the supply of fuel to the engine E.
