An optical scanning system (e.g. for a microfilm xerographic copying apparatus) comprises scan (A) and exit (C) mirrors which are maintained at right angles and intermediate second and third (B) mirrors also maintained at right angles. The image is scanned by the scan mirror (A) and is deflected along spaced-apart parallel paths to and from the mirrors (B) onto the exit mirror (C) and thus onto the moving surface (5) on which the image is progressively laid. Mirrors (A) and (B) move in the same direction but opposite to that of mirror (C). The translation rates of mirrors (A) and (C) have a fixed ratio to the rate of movement of the moving surface.
|
