A bed unit spring (10) has an upper portion formed from two end tranverse bars (54), a central transverse bar (84) and a center bar formed of two sections (82) on opposite sides of the central transverse bar which are directed towards the midportions of the end bars (54). A vertically collapsible midportion connects the upper portion to a lower frame mounted portion which includes two feet that are lockably inserted in a metal slat (52). Each foot includes a spring wire end which forms a trailing end (72) of the foot when the foot is inserted into a slot (68). When the trailing end passes beyond the slot it moves resiliently outward so as to lock the foot in place. A deflection limiter (90) is attached to the spring. It is formed of wire and includes an abutment portion (92) and two connector bar portions (94), (96). |
