PURPOSE:To shorten the depth of a display part by arranging display panels of a heat-up type and a head-down type display part, back to back, closely and almost coaxially, and arranging one light source between both display panels and using it for both display parts in common. CONSTITUTION:A figure shows an example of a heat-up and head-down type display device for a vehicle. Light from an illumination light source 20 is converged in both directions by a light reflector 21 and diffused by light diffusing plates 17 and 19 respectively to enter transmission type liquid crystal panels 16 and 18, so that they are used as illumination light for liquid crystal display. Consequently, drive information displayed on the liquid crystal panel 16 is magnified by a magnifying lens 22, reflected by a total reflection mirror 23 to travels toward a windshield (not shown in figure), and reflected by the windshield, so that its virtual image is seen outside in front of the windshield. Driver information displayed on the liquid crystal panel 18, on the other hand, is seen through an acryl curved surface plate 24. consequently, the illumination light from the one illumination light source is distributed to right and left; one is used as the light source of the head-up display part and the other is used as the light source of a head-down display part, thereby reducing the depth. |
