<p>Cosmetic agents for the hair or skin, which contain quaternary hydroxyalkyl-substituted chitosan derivatives of formula (I), wherein X means X1, X2 or X3, and where X has the meaning of formula (II), X2 = -N(R2)3+ Y- (Y = Cl,Br,J,HSO¿4? or CH3SO4), X3 = -N(R?2)¿m H(2-m) (m = 0,1 or 2) and the proportion of the subsitutes X1, X2 and X3, as compared with the total number of monomer units is: X1 = 0 - 50 %, X2 = 1 - 100 % and X3 = (100-X1 -X2) %; where R1 = H means CH¿2?CH2OH or formula (III), and R?2¿ represents CH¿3? or CH2CH2. The hair fixation effects as well as the hair and skin conditioning effect of these cosmetic agents is attributable to their content of chitosan derivatives of formula (I).</p> |
