The annular core of an annular-core transformer or of an annular-core inductor is embedded in an electrically insulating, highly thermally conductive, fine-grained, consistent material which can be scattered, such as quartz sand or the like, which is held completely in an aluminium housing, the aluminium housing comprising at least one inwardly projecting centring cone which extends into the central annular-core opening. This results in good thermal-dissipation conditions in operation, so that an annular-core transformer of low structural weight can be operated at a relatively high power.
