A wood-chips-producing device of the type which comprises a vehicle-borne wood chipper is configured such that the wood chipper 3 forms part of unit 2 which is suspended such that it is movable relative to the vehicle 1 by means of a crane disposed on the latter, which unit likewise has members for taking hold of standing trees and members for cross-cutting the trees.
