PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the charging efficiency of veneers in a drier and at shortening the inserting time of venners, by providing such a method that a distributing mechanism is swung when the front end of each of veneers having different lengths is detected, to introduce the veneers altanately into a plural stage direction changing device, and thereafter, the veneers are delivered onto a discharge conveyor to be put aside before introduction of them into the drier as the next step. CONSTITUTION:Veneer 1a1 through 1a4 inserted one by one at the right side of a guide roll 2 is fed, after being introduced through the gap between pinch rolls 5, through a downward direction conveying and distributing mechanism 6, and then set on the upper stage of a direction changing device 7. After a pedetermined time elapses, a roller conveyor 8 descents. Then, the preceding veneer 1a1 which has reached a detecting device 11 on a next stage discharge conveyor 10, being fed in the perpendicular direction by a belt conveyor 9 which has reached a detecting device 11 on a next stage discharge conveyor 10 which is started in association with the detection of the leading end of the veneer A1, and is temporarily stopped in association with a signal indicating the detection of the trailing end of the veneer 1a1. With this arrangement, gaps between the leading ends and trailing ends of the veneers 1a1 through 1a4 are decreased, and the veneers are conveyed being put aside, and are introduced into a drier one by one from the preceding veneer 1a1. Further, when the veneers 1 are fully loaded on the changing device 7, a stopper 8 hinders veneers 1 on coming thereafter, thereby the end edges of the veneers are made into close contact with each other, thereby it is possible to enhance the charging efficiency thereof.
