In a fifth-wheel coupling (3) for road vehicles, in which a fifth-wheel plate which is arranged in a horizontal joint is provided for the motor vehicle and a king pin (4) with a holder is provided for the semitrailer, which holder rests on the fifth-wheel plate, the semitrailer having a wheel brake which engages when the semitrailer is pushing and is released when the semitrailer is being pulled, there is provision according to the invention for the semitrailer chassis (2) to be mounted on the holder (6) of the king pin (4) with at least one rocker (24, 25) and to be movable in a limited fashion in the pushing and pulling direction and to be guided in such a way that the distance (b) between the semitrailer chassis (2) and the holder (6) of the king pin (4) along the rocker movement (26, 27; 28, 29) is essentially constant, which movement serves for the deflection of the brake actuation connected to the holder (6) of the king pin (4). <IMAGE>
