PURPOSE:To supercharge simply by introducing atmospheric air into a communicating passage of one cylinder through an atmospheric air introducing passage when pressure in an exhaust gas passage of another cylinder is low and forcing out the atmospheric air when pressure in an exhaust gas passage of another cylinder is high. CONSTITUTION:A two-cylinder four-cycle engine has cylinders 1a, 1b including two sets of intake ports 2a, 2b and two sets of exhaust ports 3a, 3b and supercharge ports 5a, 5b. Each of the ports is provided with a poppet valve which is opened and closed by a valve actuating cam. The supercharge ports 5a, 5b are connected to exhaust gas passages 14b, 14a of the cylinders 1b, 1a located at their opposite side through communicating passages 17a, 17b respectively. The communicating passages 17a, 17b are connected to atmospheric air introduction passages 18a, 18b at the vicinity of the supercharge ports 5a, 5b, respectively. The atmospheric air introduction passages 18a, 18b are connected downstream of throttle valves 11a, 11b of intake passages 10a, 10b and include check valves 19a, 19b on their way which permit a flow toward the supercharge ports. |
