PURPOSE:To obtain the simple, low-priced and highly speedy device in which the secure shading distortion is corrected by having the means to record photoelectrically the picture, the means to form the reference member of the reference concentration and the reference signal, the means to store the deviation of the output obtained by reading and the reference signal and the means to make binary the output of the reading means. CONSTITUTION:When shading distortion data are read, the voltage charged through a peak holding circuit 23 to a capacitor 39, namely, the voltage of a connecting point 41b, and the output of an amplifier 3 of a signal line 3a are compared by a comparator 41. Consequently, by the comparator 41, the change of the output of a CCD sensor 1 through a amplifier 3 to the charging voltage of the capacitor 39 can be detected. Since the charging voltage of the comparator 39 is changed following the output of the CCD sensor 1, it can be discriminated by the comparing action of the comparator 41 whether or not the present output of the CCD sensor 1 is changed to the output corresponding to the immediately-preceding picture element. Thus, the ununiformity of the output of the CCD sensor 1 due to the shading distortion can be detected.
