A blower-type spreader consists of a vehicle, for example a tractor, with a power take-off shaft and with a semi-mounted or trailed spreading unit which has a supply container with outflow orifices, metering members arranged thereunder and a plurality of spreading lines which are connected to the latter by means of inflow orifices, extend on both sides and perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and are connected to a conveying blower and which terminate at a differing distance from the longitudinal axis of the vehicle at spreading orifices with distributor members. To reduce the outlay in terms of drive and maintenance and to reduce the weight in relation to a mechanical drive derived from the power take-off shaft, there is provided a hydraulic motor which is seated directly on the blower shaft and which is connected to the vehicle's own hydraulic system or to a hydraulic pump coupled to the power take-off shaft of the vehicle.
