In a broach for the surface finishing of workpieces set in a rotating movement for this purpose, the broach cutting edges (3) are parts of interchangeably fastened cutting bodies (2) made of a hard cutting material. For the pull cut, the cutting edges (3) form an acute angle (5) with the longitudinal broach axis (4) and are disposed at a nose angle (7) to one another which closes in the feed direction (6). Several cutting bodies (2, 10) arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction (6) of the broach and whose cutting edges are effective together over the broach width in each case form a cutting unit (8). Each cutting unit (8) consists of an uneven number of cutting bodies (2, 10), the piercing cutter (10) of which is concentric to the longitudinal centre axis (4) and projects beyond the flanks of the other cutting bodies (2) in the direction of the workpiece. <IMAGE>
