In order to prevent foam-formation or to remove gas from liquids, a horizontal reactor (1) is used, in which rotationally-mounted discs (3) are inclined, in at least one axial section, at an angle which is alternately greater and less than 90 in relation to the rotational axis (2). The discs have a free choke cross section opposite the base of the reactor (1), which results in an alternate raising and lowering of the liquid level (4).
