Device for locking and operating a coupling with two positions, one position requiring the axial displacement of one coupling half having the surface (9) and the switch to the other position occurring automatically. In order to simplify locking, a supporting lever (2) with a roller (5) is arranged in such a way between the surfaces (8 and 9) on the two coupling halves that one coupling half having the surface (9) can rotate in the released condition, that, when the other coupling half having the surface (8) is set in motion, the supporting lever (2) pivots and thus frees the way for the coupling of the two coupling halves, and that, during the uncoupling of the coupling elements, the supporting lever (2) reassumes its original supporting position. <IMAGE>
