Retainer film caps for dental purposes

In order to obtain a gap for accommodation of the fixing cement, deliberate overdimensioning of the dental replacement is necessary. This can be achieved by appropriate enlargement of the dental model stump by so-called retainers. The retainer film caps according to the invention are pre-shaped of an elastic, thermoplastic or shrinkable material with various, defined layer thicknesses (D1). The dimensions correspond approximately to the conventional dimensions of prepared teeth. In a preferred embodiment, retainer caps (1) are designed such that they are inverted over the dental model stump (2), are shrunk onto the stump by means of hot air and can be shortened, if required. The caps can be used on any model stump material. Depending on the production method of the dental replacement, the dimensions of the dental model stump can be increased by means of the retainer caps with a uniform layer thickness on all sides, so that restoration with the desired overdimensioning is possible.
