A particularly simple device for butt-jointing two tubes of identical cross-sectional dimensions, in particular for lengthening posts of traffic signs and other road signs, has a joining tube inside the tubes, in their joining region, the external diameter of which joining tube is smaller than the internal diameter of the two tubes and which is deformed in its central portion by squeezing in such a way that the greatest thickness of the central portion is greater than the internal diameter of the two tubes.
