PURPOSE:To enable high-speed printing and contrive a reduction of noise, by varying printing speed in accordance with the thickness of the paper to be printed. CONSTITUTION:For example, when a paper thickness adjusting lever is set to a position for 'one sheet of paper', a signal for setting a high-speed printing mode is inputted into a controlling circuit 1 through a reading sensor 2. A signal for designating the length of a driving pulse for high-speed printing and a printing pulse with a short period are supplied from the circuit 1 to a printing head driving circuit 2. The circuit 2 supplies a printing pulse with a short period to a printing head 3 to drive a printing pin at high speed, whereby noise is reduced. The circuit 1 provides a carriage motor driving circuit 4 with a carriage motor driving pulse signal with a short period. The circuit 4 supplies a carriage motor 5 with a driving signal for moving a carriage at high speed, thereby moving the carriage at high speed. |
