PURPOSE:To execute smoothly and quickly an operation of a processing selection by providing an indicating means for indicating a display of a soft key, a selecting means for selecting the soft key, and an erasion indicating means for erasing the display of the soft key. CONSTITUTION:When an extension key 82 provided on a keyboard is operated, a line display flag MNL-FLAG of a RAM 6 becomes on, a character code train is stored in a buffer memory 16 through a character generator 22 by the number of soft keys which can be displayed on one picture, and a soft key display is executed to a display device 20. Subsequently, when the soft key is inputted, a pre-processing of the next level soft key display is executed and the soft key display is executed again. When a cancel key 81 is operated, the flag MNL-FLAG becomes off, and the soft key is erased. In this way, the soft key operation can be selected when necessary, by which the processing selection can be executed smoothly and quickly.
