PRODUCTION OF FINE CRYSTALS OF TRIAMINOGUANIDINE NITRATE

PURPOSE:A water-soluble substance containing nitrate group is introduced in an aqueous solution of a readily soluble salt of triaminoguanidine to enable high-safety and high-yield production of the title compound of high purity which is used as a propellant for rockets and bullets. CONSTITUTION:A water soluble substance bearing nitrate groups such as ammo nium nitrate or sodium nitrate is added to an aqueous solution of a triaminoguanidium salt which is readily soluble in an aqueous solvent such as water, methanol or i-propyl alcohol at a ratio of 1-3 equivalents, preferably 1.2-1.8 equivalent per mole of the triaminoguanidium salt to give the objective nitrate of fine crystals of 10-200 micron length, or 50-100 microns on the number average.
