<p>Flame retardant polymer compsn. which can be cross-linked and hardened by irradiation, comprises (a) 40-75 wt.% ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer; (b) 5-30% Sb cpd; (c) 15-40% 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,10,11,11-dodecachloro-1,4,4a,5a,6,9,9a,9b-octa- hydro-1,4,6,9-dimethanodibenzofuran (I); (d) 0.5-4% acid acceptor chosen from tetrabasic lead fumarate (pref) MgO, CaCO3 and litharge; (e) 0.5-3% triallyl (iso)cyanurate (iso being pref.); (f) 1-10% fumed silica and (g) 0.25-4% antioxidant, pref. a polyquinoline, esp. polytrimethyl-dihydroquinoline (II). Compsn. is non-porous and has satisfactory flame retardancy to (IPCEA standard), physical and electrical props. and heat ageing.</p> |
