PURPOSE:To prevent the contamination of ink and the blocking of nozzle by closing a shutter to prevent the blocking of nozzle during the jetting period of ink in a charge control-type ink jet printer. CONSTITUTION:When a shutter 30 is closed, a carriage 20 is moved the left side from home position and a stopper 41 is contacted with the side plate 45 of printer. Whereupon, a home sensor is interrupted. If the positional relations and shapes of a sensor plate 44a and two sensors are regulated so that the start sensor is interrupted by the sensor plate 44a, the jetting of ink is stopped. Since the stopper 41 is pushed to right side against a spring 43 and a pin 41a is moved to the right side, a link 42 can be moved downwards, and the shutter can also be closed in an interlocking manner. When the printer is not in use for long periods of time, the same condition (shutter is closed) can be kept and the drying of the nozzle can be prevented. |
