发明名称 SOUND VELOCITY MEASURING APPARATUS
摘要 PURPOSE:To determine sound velocity without immersion of an object to be measured into a liquid, by moving wave transmitter and receivers along circular arc guide surface of holding members of an object to be measured to obtain the angle at which the attenuation of sound waves will be the smallest. CONSTITUTION:A support member 6 is fixed on a disc 7 while a support member 6' mounted controllably thereon. Here, the center axis O and O of two holding members 2 and 2' are positioned shifted by a distance DELTAl with upper and lower guide shafts 9 and 9' and upper and lower adjusting screw rods 10 and 10'. An object 1 to be measured is positioned between two holding surfaces 3 and 3 and grasped firmly with holding coil springs 13 and 13. The transverse wave sound velocity in the object being measured is determined by C1 (transverse wave)=C2 X costheta1/costheta2' and the longitudinal wave sound velocity by C1=C2 X costheta1/costheta2''. Thus, a wave transmitter 16 and a wave receiver 16' are moved along circular arc guide surfaces 4 of the holding members 2 and 2' to measure the propagation time and attenuation of sound waves thereby determining the angle of inclination at which the attenuation of sound waves will be the smallest.
