A covering panel (1) is produced as a moulded part whose exposed face imitates the appearance of traditional covering, at least one horizontally lateral edge (2) of the panel (1) having a covering or covered portion interacting, by means of mutual overlapping, with a respectively covered or covering portion of the adjacent horizontal lateral edge (5) of the horizontally adjacent panel (1), during installation of these panels (1), retaining the attractive appearance of the exposed surface, each panel (1) being provided, on at least one lateral edge (2) with assembly means interacting with complementary assembly means of the adjacent lateral edge (5) of the adjacent panel (1). The panel (1) comprises means for guiding and positioning for a panel (1) adjacent to the said panel (1) during horizontal assembly of the said panels. Application in the construction industry, and particularly for producing roofs.
