PURPOSE:To make possible to carry out the finishing process of the mirror plate surface of a swivel scroll with a high degree of accuracy, by fabricating the bottom surface of a groove between laps and the mirror surfaces of peripheries of laps with the use of an end mill, and by grinding unfabricated surfaces in accordance with the result of measurement of the difference in height between the fabricated surface and the unfabricated surface. CONSTITUTION:A numerically controlled milling machine is attached with an end mill having a diameter L equal to the width L of a groove between laps of a swivel scroll 1. Thereafter, a groove bottom surface 14 and a mirror plate surface 15 in a part extending from the terminal point of the groove to a point 22 at which the circumference of the mirror plate surface substantially completes its one round, are subjected to an end mill fabrication. That is, an unfabricated surface corresponding to substantially two rounds are left in the mirror surface plate 23. Then unfabricated surface is ground so that no difference in height is eliminated with respect to the fabricated surface by the end mill. With this arrangement, the mirror plate surface 15 of a swivel scroll 1 is finished to a high degree of accuracy.
