PURPOSE:To attain stable tracking control by providing a means detecting a low frequency component of a tracking drive signal to detect the slope of a reproducing stylus and a means discriminating its level. CONSTITUTION:When a kick pulse generation trigger 54 is outputted from a controller section 40 and a level detection section 28 detects that the upper limit of a tracking control stable operation level is exceeded, a level detection section output 53 applies a limit to the trigger 54, a switching section 29 inhibits the trigger so as not to generate a kick pulse 56. A tracking control signal 51 is fed to a normal carrying control section 30, a carrying motor 35 is operated and then an arm 2 is moved, the position of a reproducing stylus 3 is corrected and the tilt of the reproducing stylus is decreased. When the level detection section 28 detects that the level is in the range of the tracking control stable operating level, the limit of the trigger 54 is allowed by the switch section 29 to generate the kick pulse 56 thereby skipping between tracks and approaching the stylus to the object.
