PURPOSE:To make possible to minimize the time of indexing a tool drum, by using an empty tool holding hole to change the line-up of tools into an order for using them. CONSTITUTION:An integral one 7 of tools 7 stored in tool holding holes 19a in a tool drum 19 is shifted into a spare pocket 20, and the thus emptied tool holding hole 19a is used for changing the line-up of the tools stored on the tool drum 19 into an order for using them. Then, the tool 7 in the spare pocket 20 is stored in an emptied tool holding hole 19a which is obtained after the change of the line-up so that the tools 7 are lined up on the tool drum 19 for every pitch of the tool holding hole 19a. Further, in this condition, the exchange of the tools with respect to the tool holding holes 19a is made from the tool 7 to be used at first while the tool drum 19 is shifted each time for every pitch. |
