PURPOSE:To obtain the activated silicon powder wherein the reaction activity is decreased up to the safe degree and the disposal treatment and the transportation for the effective utilization are easy by adding water to the specified activated Si powder and granulating the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The activated Si powder being the reaction residue and having 1-200mum grain size is obtained by allowing metallic Si to react with hydrocarbon chloride or HC1 and distilling the produced organochlorosilane or chlorosilane. Then while it is introduced into a mixing type granulator and stirred, 5-50wt% water for the activated Si powder is added and if necessary the mixture is mixed in the atmosphere such as gaseous N2 and granulated.
