PURPOSE:To improve grinding efficiency by arranging a grinder with the rotating shaft inclined towards a direction of the roller shaft line, and by either lifting or lowering a fitting frame in accordance with the change etc. of a roller diameter. CONSTITUTION:A grinder 3 s supported to an end of a holder 6 freely rotatably with a shaft 4 and a bearing 5 being interposed respectively. A whet stone 3 is fitted within a frame 9 with the shaft line of rotation OG of the whet stone 3 inclined at a set angle to a normal line of a work roll 1. Further, the frame 9 moves in a vertical direction by means of an elevator 16, with the frame supporter 13 making a reciprocating movement in a direction of the shaft line of the roll 1 along a guide channel 13e. By means of the mechanism, the whet stone 3 is either lifted or lowered by the elevator 16 so as it may be set at an optimum position for the roll 1. Further, the grinding work is feasible at an optimum position even if the roll diameter turns out to be smaller. Thus, by means of this method a grinding efficiency is improved. |
