PURPOSE:To provide safe carrying in/out operation by keeping an aux. supporting tool for a running fork in accommodated state while the running fork is advanced and retracted to/from under a truck between truck supports in each goods accommodation compartment of a rack, and thereby preventing tumble because of truck dislocation or eccentric loading thereon. CONSTITUTION:Truck supports 5a-5d with the spacing between the left and right narrowed are borne in each goods accommodation compartment 3 of a rack. A running fork 8 of an elevating carriage 7 which elevates/sinks and travels, is equipped with an aux. supporting tool 13 to be switched by a changeover means 14 between the accommodated state A and borne state B. To allow the trucks 20a, 20b to run out of the cargo accommodation compartment 3, said aux. supporting tool 13 is put in accommodated state A and the running fork 8 is advanced in between the right and left truck supports 5a, 5b. After advancing-in, the aux. supporting tool 13 is put in borne state B, and the trucks 20a, 20b are borne in the up position. To run in, the procedure shall be followed invertedly, This allows advance and retraction of the running fork 8 even though the space between the truck supports is narrow, which ensures that safe operation is carried out with no risk of the trucks 20a, 20b tumbling.
