PURPOSE:To obtain a chlorosulfonated polyethylene excellent in rollability and calenderability, by dissolving a mixture of polyethylenes having specified MW's in a solvent and chlorinating and chlorosulfonating the polyethylenes. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene mixture comprising 0.5-25.5wt% extraordinarily super-MW polyethylene of a weight-average MW>=1,500,000 and 74.5-99.5wt% polyethylene of a weight-average MW<=250,000 is dissolved in a solvent and chlorosulfonated. Said extraordinarily super-MW polyethylene belongs to the category of engineering plastics by virtue of its excellence, especially, in abrasion and impact resistance. Said polyethylene having a weight-average MW<=250,000 is one used in usual extrusion, blow molding, injection molding or for films and having a weight-average MW>=30,000.
