CURSOR CONTROL SYSTEM FOR TRACK BALL

PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a cursor by detecting a track ball touched by the operator and turned, moving the cursor in the turning direction while the hand is touched and stopping the cursor when the hand is detached. CONSTITUTION:When the ball 3 of the track ball 2 is turned by the operator, the direction of X,Y and the moving quantity are entered to a processor PC5 via an input port 14. The PC 5 controlls a cursor control circuit 12 based on the data to move the cursor displayed on a display section 11 via a P/S converting circuit 10 and store the moving direction into a RAM 6. In this case, a sensor 16 detects the contact of the hand of the operator onto the ball 3 and sends a detection signal to the PC 5 via the input port 15. After the PC 5 supervises the detection signal for a prescribed time, the PC 5 gives a command to the circuit 12 to move the cursor in the direction stored in the RAM 6. When the operator detaches the hand from the ball 3 and the sensor 16 detects it, the PC gives a command to the circuit 12 to stop the movement of the cursor and erases the storage of the RAM 6.
