PURPOSE:To control a swirl with a less change of torque, by controlling a valve, which controls the swirl formed in a combustion chamber in accordance with an operative condition of an engine, by an output from a control unit which commands target air-fuel ratio in accordance with the operative condition. CONSTITUTION:A swirl control valve 34, being provided adjacent to an intake hole in the downstream of a throttle valve 25, controls a swirl in accordance with the operative condition of an engine by driving a diaphragm mechanism 37 in accordance with negative pressure of a negative pressure selector valve 42 actuated by an output from a control unit 47. The control unit 47, performing a feedback control by inputs from various sensors including an exhaust sensor 33 in accordance with the deviation of an arithmetic value of target air-fuel ratio from the actual air-fuel ratio, controls a fuel injection valve 24. Use of the arithmetic value of the target air-fuel ratio in said control directly as a control signal of the swirl control valve decreases a change of torque less than that in use of a value of the actual air-fuel ratio. |
