PURPOSE:To increase an opening area per unit time of a valve and improve its sealing property or the like, by providing a rotary valve in an intake and an exhaust port provided in a cylinder head and intermittently further rapidly opening and closing each valve by a Geneva gear. CONSTITUTION:A device provides rotary valves 10 and 20 respectively in an intake port 7 and an exhaust port 8 which are provided in a cylinder head. The device, having gears 35, 37 equipped with four fitting grooves 35a, 37a in valve shafts 34, 36 of each valve, drives each gear 35,37 engaging with a gear 33, with pins 33a-d, fixed to a shaft 31 rotated by a gear 32 driven by an engine crankshaft. If the gear 33 rotates at an equal speed in accordance with rotation of an engine, the intake valve 10 acts rapidly opening when the pin 33a engages with the groove 35a of the gear 35 while rapidly closing when the pin 33b engages. Similarly, the exhaust valve 20 opens when the pin 33c, provided in the gear 33, engages with the groove 37a of the gear 37 while closes when the pin 33d engages. |
