PURPOSE:To speed up focusing operation by rotating a focus ring toward an infinite-distance end when the focus ring is near a short-distance end and also rotating the focus ring toward the short-distance end when the focus ring is near the infinite-distance end. CONSTITUTION:A photodetection part 30 has an integrating function part, a shift register part, etc., and receives light from an object to send out an analog signal. The analog signal processed by an analog signal processor 32 is digitized by an A/D converter 34 and inputted as a digital signal to a microprocessor 36. A position detector 38 for the focus ring detects which of the shoft-distance end, intermediate position, and infinite-distance end the focus ring is close to and inputs a position signal to the microprocessor 36. The microprocessor 36 performs arithmetic operations in consideration of position information and a focus ring driving motor 42 drives the focus ring on the basis of the arithmetic result to put the lens in focus. |
