摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce by half the voltage applied to a filter capacitor and to make a charged particle ray generator compact, by causing an electrical current, which takes place at the time of discharge between a positive and a negative electrodes and is inverse in direction to a charging current, to flow through a residual resistance from a diodes so as to be consumed. CONSTITUTION:A series circuit of diodes Df1, Df2 is connected in parallel with a series circuit of filter capacitors Cf1, Cf2 to a cockcroft-Walton circuit 1. The diodesd Df1, Df2 are connected to each other in such a manner that their forward direction is inverse to the direction of a charging current caused to flow through the filter capacitors Cf1, Cf2 by the Cockcroft-Walton circuit 1. As a result, an electrical current flows through a closed circuit U as shown by a full line (i), and the voltage V across the filter capacitors Cf1, Cf2 changes as shown by a full line V. The range of the change in the voltage V is thus reduced by half in comparison with a conventional art so that though discharge takes place between a positive electrode 2a and a negative electrode 2b, the dielectric strength of the filter capacitors Cf1, Cf2 does not need to be higher than a voltage V0. For that reason, the filter capacitors Cf1, Cf2 can be made compact.
