PURPOSE:To facilitate retrieval operation by storing once retrieval information retrieved continuously to a memory circuit and using the retrieval information to retrieve continuously picture information from an information file and outputting it. CONSTITUTION:When the information relating to the picture information to be retrieved from a keyboard 9, a system control circuit 14 transfers this information to an information retrieval circuit 11 and reads sequentially the retrieval information stored in a hard disc 10 and sends it to the information retrieval circuit 11. The information retrieval circuit 11 compares the sent retrieval information and stores the coincident information to once in the memory circuit 12. The system control circuit 14 retrieve sequentially the picture stored in an optical disc 8 based on the retrieval information stored in the memory circuit 12, reads it and after expansion processing by a CODEC 7, the information is displayed on a CRT display 5 via a page memory 2, a display memory 3 and a selection circuit 4.
