PURPOSE:To execute writing operation of information without making unnecessary erasing operation and quicken processing of writing by referring to flag information that indicates presence of record information. CONSTITUTION:When command for writing is received from a higher rank device, designated record mode is judged. If the designated mode is an update write mode, the content of a flag section is read, and judged whether the information is recorded in the data section of the block. When it is already recorded, writing operation of information is executed in an update write mode, and if it is not yet recorded, writing operation of information in an initial write mode is executed, and the result is reported to the higher rank device immediately after completion. That is, even if designation from the higher rank device is an update write mode, processing time is shortened by selecting the initial write mode by judgement of a controlling device side in the unused block. |
