ACTUATOR WITH PNEUMATIC ENERGY ACCUMULATOR

A valve is opened or closed by rotating a spindle(10) by means of a lever(7) connected to the piston rod(5) of a linear actuator. The linear actuator consists of a cylinder(3) which houses a single acting piston(4) which is operated by hydraulic or pneumatic pressure. The piston rod has a central bore(16) fitted with a spring loaded non-return valve(24) at the end most remote from the piston. The rod is pushed into a pressure accummulator (46) by the motion of the piston and at the end of the stroke the knob(27) strikes the accumulator end wall and opens the valve(24) allowing fluid or air to fow into the accumulator.
