Device for deterring motorists from exceeding the speed limit. The invention relates to a device which has the appearance of a genuine speed detector, but which does not in reality measure the speed of the vehicles. This false speed detector serves only to impress the motorist passing in front of it. It fulfils a preventive and deterrent role. It consists of a tripod, of a false electronic eye and of a casing. The motorists believe they are seeing a genuine detector and slow down for several kilometres, expecting to pass in front of the policemen which are usually further on. The phenomenon of headlight flashing also occurs, which regulates the speed of cars kilometres ahead and after the dummy radar. Its advantage is obviously its price which is much less than that of a genuine radar, since it does not have any electronic devices. This device according to the invention plays a role in particular in the prevention of motor accidents.
