PURPOSE:To obtain an instantaneous double zoom function by an electronic method by providing a pulse generating circuit of a vertical driving system pulse generating circuit during a double zooming and one horizontal scanning period delay element and operating by a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A vertical transmitting pulse of a solid state image pick up element operates once for two horizontal scanning periods and a cut-off of an unnecessary section is performed by a clamp circuit 103 and a blanking circuit 104. A signal read by one horizontal scanning period delay element 1 is read by using a clock A and at the same time, and read into one horizontal scanning period delay element 2 by using a fixed clock B to obtain the signal from an output terminal in the elements 1, 2. Similarly, thereafter the reading out and the reading into are repeated, output terminals 113, 114 of the delay elements are changed over every one horizontal scanning period by a multiplexer 115, thereby the signal is obtained in its output terminal. Thereby, the double zooming in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction is carried out.
