PURPOSE:To provide the titled stable emulsion containing a phospholipid essentially free of phosphatidylethanolamine as an emulsifier and suitable for oxygen transfusion. CONSTITUTION:One or more compounds selected from the compound of formula I (the ring A and B may be substituted with lower perfluoroalkyl; l is 3 or 4; R is lower perfluoroalkyl) and the compound of formula II (the ring C and D may be substituted with lower perfluoroalkyl; p and q are 3 or 4) are used as the main component and emulsified by using an emulsifier consisting of a phospholipid essentially free of phosphatidyl ethanolamine (e.g. obtained by fractionating the phospholipid of yolk, soybean, etc., with an organic solvent and purifying with an inorganic adsorbent). The objective perfluorocarbon emultion containing fine particles and stable for a long period can be produced by this process. the emulsion may further contain 0.001-0.1% fatty acid, etc., as an assistant emulsifier and 0.002-0.006% vitamin E, etc., as a stabilizer.
