A self-securing screw connection having a thread with a uniform pitch is created, it being possible to fit this thread to screws, screw bolts, nuts, threaded holes and the like. This thread is intended to interact with a normal thread and has adjacent thread flanks which enclose an angle of 30 DEG and an angle of less than 30 DEG with respect to the verticals to the thread axis. When tightening a thread which is constructed in this manner, with respect to a mating thread having an angle of the thread flanks of 60 DEG with respect to one another, and with the thread pitches constructed symmetrically with respect to one another, wedging and securing are achieved which are effective over the entire thread length.
