A device (6) for centring workpieces (1) on a machine-tool table (4) has a housing (7) which can be clamped on the machine-tool table (4) and is provided on its underside with at least one centring extension (8) which can be inserted in a well-fitting manner into a clamping slot (5). Two cylindrical push rods (12, 13) displaceable in opposite directions are mounted in the housing (7). The push rods (12, 13) are arranged coaxially to one another and engage telescopically with their inner ends (12a, 13a). Arranged parallel to the axis on each push rod (12, 13) is at least one toothed rack (14, 16), of which each meshes with one of two pinions (17, 18) which are of the same size in diameter, are rotatably mounted in the housing (7) and likewise mesh with one another. A self-locking, reversible adjusting drive (19-23) acts on one of the push rods (12, 13) or on one of the pinions (17, 18).
