A mechanical cabinet, having driven support units, which can be raised and lowered, with inserts which consist for example of lockable pull-out drawers or on which the contents are stored, for example in compartments and the like partitioned by transverse walls, is provided, on the side of the support units opposite the discharge, with at least one ejector device for the inserts, the drive for the latter being switched in alternation with that of the support units. The ejector device(s) is (are) arranged, in the case of a paternoster cabinet, in the intermediate space necessitated by the sprockets.
