A stacking arrangement for accumulating a plurality web segments 42 of substantially identical dimensions on sharpened pins 60 projecting upwardly from a support plate 58 located at a stacking station, in which as each web segment is produced, it is firmly held or grasped on opposite sides of its medial area, for example on rotating vacuum arms 50, conveyed along an arcuate path and impaled on and penetrated in the medial area by the sharpened pins.
