A regulator is employed to adjust the ratio of pulses to intervals of the operation of a heat source. The regulator operates from a voltage representing measured temperature to provide minimum periods of operation of the heater to prevent unacceptable noise. A varying voltage representing temperature is compared with a voltage which varies periodically and linearly with time and is produced by a convertor powered by an oscillator and binary counter. The duration of signal controlling minimum operating time of the heater is determined by another binary counter driven by an oscillator. The heater control receives a continuous voltage pulse representing minimum operating time from gating circuits.
