PURPOSE:To increase the stability of a recording material and to utilize a high activity base during heating by carrying out heating with the recording material obtd. by forming a layer contg. an electrically conductive substance and a compound producing a base by electrolysis and bringing a stage for producing the base in the layer by the supply of electric current to the layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:Heating is carried out with a recording material obtd. by forming a layer contg. an electrically conductive substance and a compound producing a base by electrolysis and bringing a stage for producing the base in the layer by the supply of electric current to the layer through two electrodes on a support. The heating may be carried out for development or to transfer an imagewise distributed substance to other layer in any heating stage among a series of image forming stages. The heating may be carried out before, during or after the supply of electric current. Electrolysis with supplied electric current in a state in which the recording material is heated to a high temp. is especially advantageous because the resistance of the recording material is reduced to increase the efficiency of electrolysis. Thus, the stability of the heat sensitive recording material is increased, and a high activity base can be utilized during heating. |
