In order to achieve a controlled sequence of movement of functional parts on an office swivel chair, a guiding means 1 is proposed which is inserted, in particular, between the seat support and the backrest or its fastening with the seat support on an office swivel chair. Said guide means 1 consists mainly of a threaded spindle 2 which is linked pivotably by its one end to a first functional part 11 and is guided by its free end in a rotatable and axially non-displaceable threaded nut 3. The threaded nut 3 is located between two limbs 5 of a fork-shaped lever 6 which is linked pivotably to a second functional part 7. The two linkage points 4 and 7 are located on a common connecting line 8 which runs through the longitudinal axis of the threaded spindle 2. A tensile or compression force on the lever 6 or the threaded spindle 2 causes an axial displacement of the threaded spindle 2 in this guiding means due to the rotating threaded nut 3. <IMAGE>
