A jig [10] used to support and guide a cutting tool has a base frame [12] provided with an elongated support [14]. Mounted on this support [14] is a plurality of guide fingers [18] which collectively serve as a template for the cutting of dovetail joint members in boards. The guide fingers are individually secured to the support by securing means [20] so that the lateral spacing between the fingers [18] is adjustable. Along one side edge of the support [14], the overhanging ends of the fingers are shaped to allow the cutting of common joint members. Along the other side edge of the support, the overhanging ends of the fingers are shaped to allow the cutting of complementary joint members. The jig has a clamping arrangement [34] which allows the boards to be clamped to the base frame [12] with the board eiids disposed in selected positions relative to the shaped ends of the fingers [18]. By suitable adjustement of the guide fingers, it is possible to provide the board with dovetail joint members of varying size and spacing, although the fingers can be arranged to produce joint members of uniform size and regular spacing. |
